How To Make A Naked Cake

Ever since Peony season bloomed a couple of weeks ago I have been dreaming of ways to use these gorgeous flowers in just about every way possible. I love how impactful just one single peony can be and so I decided to transform this basic vanilla bean naked cake into something with a ton of whimsy and charm. I used this delicious cake recipe (I also added vanilla bean into the batter), and  only frosted the inside layers and top to expose the beautiful, moist sponge on the outside. I added some scented geranium on the sides of the cake and layered two stumps to make the cake base, making sure to put wax paper on the bottom. Once I stepped back and looked at my cake I was so proud of how beautiful it turned out, especially for my first attempt at a naked cake.
