Monthly Beauty Favourites: Hair Care Edition

July 25, 2018

During the last couple of months, I’ve found myself buying a lot of hair care and hair accessories over any other beauty products. I thought it would only make sense for the latest instalment of my monthly beauty faves to dedicate it to all things hair. From a brush that has changed my tangly hair game to the best dry shampoo I’ve ever tried and the cutest, Canadian designed scrunchies, here are the hair care products and accessories I’ve been loving lately.
Living Proof Instant De-frizzer: I bought the Living Proof Instant de-frizzer as well as the dry shampoo (more below) in anticipation for our trip to Charleston as I knew that the humidity down south was not going to be good for my hair. While nothing seemed to want to help keep my curls intact in Charleston, this de-frizzer did do an amazing job of keeping my hair looking silky and smooth instead of it look akin to sticking my finger in a socket. I used this product every time I washed and blow dried my hair before styling and I love the smell and how user-friendly it is.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo: I’ve used a lot of dry shampoos in my life but this one has to be my fave. I’d heard so many wonderful thinking about the perfect hair day dry shampoo and though the price was a little steep, I’d say it is definitely worth it for not having to go through washing, drying and styling my hair every day, especially in the summertime. This dry shampoo does an amazing job of soaking up extra oil in between washes and leaves my hair feeling soft and clean so I can skip a day (or two).
Coiled Hair Ties: I’ve noticed these coiled hair ties on women for the last year or so and was always so intrigued by them / wondered why every girl seemed to be putting key rings in their hair, haha! Anyway, I found myself at Anthropolgie recently I spotted these hair ties and figured I’d give them a try. While I don’t think they’re the most stylish hair ties, and I wouldn’t choose them for styling my hair for an event, the reason I love them is for working out. I’ve always had a hard time getting classic hair ties to hold a bun or ponytail while I’m working out but the coiled design of these help keep my hair from budging when I’m doing any sort of weight lifting of high impact cardio.

Tangle Teezer Hair Brush: I am convinced that I have the worlds most tangly hair, especially after washing, conditioning and towel drying it. I’m not sure why I didn’t purchase a tangle teezer sooner but in the last month or so that I’ve had my tangle teezer my life has changed. Gone are the days where I have to spent 20 minutes combing out my hair. Thanks to this genius invention my wet hair combs through in around 3 minutes without pulling or damaging my hair. There’s not much else I can say about this little guy…if you have tangly hair, you NEED this in your life.
Puff.Me Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner: The longer my hair becomes, the more I find it looking weighed down. This has been extra annoying because of course the goal with long hair is to keep it looking soft and bouncy. I was recently sent the Puff.Me shampoo and conditioner from Canadian hair care company Design.Me and couldn’t wait to try the collection. I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks now and have noticed a huge difference in how my hair texture feels. This sulfate and gluten free formula works so well together to give me that soft luscious hair I’m always coveting…not to mention, the packaging is pretty cute too!
Chelsea King Scrunchies (pink here, blue here): These scrunchies arrived just a few days ago but I am already obsessed with them. Chelsea King is a Vancouver based designer who has a penchant for creating really cute yet practical scrunchies. I feel like with scrunchies you’re either team yes or no but I just love the playful look of them, especially when they come in such cute patterns and textures like Chelsea Kings do. I’ve purchased a few scrunchies this year but these particular scrunchies stand out as they’re not only super cute but they’re soft and comfortable in my hair. I find some hair ties and scrunchies can pull and weigh on my head but these just feel SO good…and look adorable.
