Snakeskin is a Neutral

April 2, 2019

When Ann Taylor recently reached out asking me to style some of the pieces from their new snakeskin collection, i’ll admit, I was a little hesitant. Not because i don’t love the collection (I do!), but because I’m just 5 weeks postpartum and sharing outfits with you feels a little daunting. However, I realized that the pressure of getting my post-baby body back is coming only from myself and that each person in my life has told me I look great and that I need to give myself grace and time. So, with that, I decided to share a more form-fitting outfit that shows off my new curves and guess what? I feel really good…massive boobies and all! I think that it is important not to hide away from my blog and styling outfits I love just because I don’t look exactly how I used to. In fact, I have a feeling that it’s GOOD to show up and share that a pre-baby body doesn’t just appear over night. It takes time to heal and to even be cleared for exercise, which I have not yet. I mean, it took 9 months to grow a human so I’m assuming it is going to take a while to get back to where I was before. I have found though, that when I do put a little extra effort into my outfit, hair and makeup (when I have the time) that my mental state is a lot brighter. With that, I’m going to try to share more postpartum outfit pots with you as long as time allows, haha!

Now, onto this outfit. I love the snakeskin collection from Ann Taylor. I’ve never been one to gravitate towards snake print as I’m usually more of a leopard gal, but this particular snake print is so soft, delicate and feminine and I’m obsessed. Snake print, though you not might think at first, is also a neutral print which means it can be paired with many other colours, prints and textures. With this particular collection, the pieces can even be worn together! This outfit almost looks like a dress but it is actually a skirt and top from the collection. I wore this outfit to dinner the other night and our waitress gave me the sweetest compliment on this outfit and even she thought it was a dress! I’m also excited to wear this skirt with a light sweater for those chiller spring days as I’m sure there are still lots ahead of us here in Nova Scotia.
