Holiday Glam

November 30, 2016

holiday-glamour-rexall-1Typically, bold beauty looks don’t have a place in my daily makeup routine because, let’s face it, mornings are hectic. However, when the holidays roll around I like to add a few glamorous holiday beauty products into my makeup bag, so that when a holiday party invite arrives in my mailbox, I’m prepared. My everyday beauty look normally consists of a great base for my face, a touch of mascara, and a swipe of lipstick, but to create this holiday glam look I needed to pick up some products from some of my favourite drugstore beauty brands. I headed to Rexall’s Inspired beauty department to pick up some holiday makeup essentials that would fit into my uncomplicated beauty routine and get me through the holiday season in style, on-trend, and on budget. For this particular look I opted for a classic Hollywood-glam style that consisted of lots of vampy red and glamorous gold. I love how red lips and nails pop against shimmery gold so that is exactly what inspired me to create this look. Keep reading to see what products I used from Rexall to achieve this look and how to recreate it for yourself below.

holiday-glamour-rexall-2For this look in particular I started with the base that I do everyday on my face. I suggest you do the same as It makes creating this look efficient because there aren’t any special instructions you have to follow… after all, you know what works for you!  For me, I use a hydrating primer, a small amount of foundation, concealer, a swipe of bronzer and some translucent finishing powder. All of the other products that go into this beauty look can be found at Rexall, making them easy to find and all at a lower price point, so creating this glamorous look won’t break the bank.

Here’s what I used to create my holiday glam look:

Essie Gel Couture polish in “bubbles only” + Essie Gel Couture Top Coat

-NYX High Definition Blush in Hamptons
-NYX Strobe of Genius Palette

-Maybelline Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eye Liner in Blackest Black
-Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Palette, The Nudes
-Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Blackest Black

-L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Lipstick in Blake’s Red

I swiped on a small amount of NYX High Definition Blush in Hamptons to add some colour to my cheeks. I love this blush colour because it offers a subtle flush to my cheeks but doesn’t overwhelm the rest of the look. To make this look even more holiday appropriate I used a fan brush and swiped a good amount of the peachy/gold combo from the NYX Strobe of Genius Palette (bottom left) onto my cheeks, temples, tip of my nose and my cupids bow. It created the prettiest illuminated look and left my skin feeling glowy and holiday party ready.
{Maybelline Expert Wear The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette}
To create a glitzy gold eye for my holiday look, I started by using the lightest, champagne white colour in The Nudes palette and swiped it all over my lid, onto my brow bone and into the ducts of my eyes to create a very open-eyed, illuminated look.

I followed up by using the gold colour and swiped it all over my lid. I then wet an angled brush and lined the bottom of my eyes with more gold to really make my eyes pop. I finished off with a small amount of the farthest right eyeshadow on the palette and added it to the far corner crease of my eye. Finally, I swiped Maybelline’s Line Stiletto eye liner on the bottom of my eye lids and created a cat eye to give the look that “Old Hollywood” feel.
Red nails are the epitome of “Old Hollywood” glamour. For this look, I opted to go with Essie’s Gel Couture polish from Rexall because it’s a shiny, long-lasting formula that I can wear for over a week without having to worry about fixing a chipped manicure.
Thank you to Rexall for partnering on this post, all opinions are my own.
