OK, OK, I’m Doing a 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Review

This past Sunday, like all fashion obsessed women around the US and Canada, I made my way to the Target X 3.1 Phillip Lim release. I think that it’s great that retailers like target and H&M collaborate with normally very pricy designers and bring their unique styles into a more affordable market. However, let me just say that I feel like it’s becoming overdone. The day that Phillip Lim was released, Target had already announced their next partnership with Peter Pilotto. It’s almost as if something that seemed once so exclusive has now become a cheap money making scheme. I mean yesterday I saw four girls wearing a leopard print skirt, blazer, sweater and blouse all from Phillip Lim for Target (and I too write this while wearing Phillip Lim sleepwear!) So while I do think collaborations are an overdone trend I still can’t help myself from getting in on the action, even if it does make me a hypocrite (a hypocrite with style!). Maybe I just like the thrill of waiting in line and trying to avoid getting trampled once the doors open. So what did I end up with? Well the boxer tank top set like I mentioned, and this sweater dress and “Pashli” cross body bag (also in black). I really didn’t go crazy because I didn’t want to buy pieces just because they were “Phillip Lim”. I wanted pieces that I knew I’d wear and that actually looked good on me (the trench I tried on literally swallowed me up). This brings me to another point; the men’s wear was SO MUCH NICER and fit SO MUCH BETTER! My boyfriend really lucked out with some great pieces and the trench looked amazing on him (maybe I’ll do a men’s wear post?!). All in all collaborations are fun experiences and make for an exciting day. Did any of you luck out and get what you wanted, or did you stay away from the madness?
