Burnt Orange

October 23, 2017

Happy Monday Friends, I hope you had a great weekend! Did you get up to anything fun? Jamie and I went to dinner at Canis on Saturday to celebrate our 10th anniversary and it was delicious. Jamie actually suggested it after seeing it on Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants list and I’m so glad we went. Funnily enough, that same day when we were on a bike ride, he surprised me and took me to Brothers for lunch, another spot on the list. We never eat out twice in a day but it was such a sweet gesture on his part and it was probably the best lunch I’ve ever eaten. Anyway, on to the outfit! The Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo collection has been out for around a month now but surprisingly, I only just got around to picking up a piece. I’m a huge fan of Olivia Palermo, but after trying on a few of the pieces and not loving them on myself, I decided that I’d skip purchasing a piece altogether. That was until a few days ago when I was back in BR to buy the boots I’m wearing here. I decided to give this burnt orange dress a chance since there was a 40% off sale and I’m so happy I did because as soon as I tried it on I was in love. The colour reminds me of autumn leaves and the long bell sleeves and cut out shoulder detail give the dress a seventies vibe that I can’t get enough of. I also really like the bold buttons and sash around the waist that gives an otherwise billowy dress some shape. Sometimes it’s totally worth trying on something that you wouldn’t normally, you might surprise yourself!
