Pink et Blue

June 18, 2018

We’ve been in Charleston for 4 days now and I can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful places Jamie and I have ever travelled to….not that we’ve travelled thaaat much, haha! Between the perfect sunshine (the humidity is another thing), warm, welcoming people, history, food and just all around beauty, I have felt like I’ve been in heaven for the past few days. On Saturday, Jamie and I had dinner at Husk, which is chef Shawn Brock’s restaurant (you might know him from The Mind of a Chef on Netflix). Dinner was unbelievable and if I close my eyes, I can still taste just how incredible it was. We ate outside and our view was the Mills House which is a historic Charleston Hotel that opened in 1970. The pink exterior and architecture are modelled after the original historic hotel that was there in the 1850’s. After dinner, while we were driving back to our Air Bnb, I spotted the John Rutledge House Inn which is yet another historic home that was built in 1763 by John Rutledge for his bride, Elizabeth Grimke. The house has been through a few renovations as well as survived a fire during the Civil War and is now a historic hotel where you can stay! I’ve dressed in a lot of colour in Charleston as there are so many pastel houses and details around every corner. For dinner, I wore this pink linen Ann Taylor dress with the cutest bow tie details and Ann Taylor blue flower shoes. I suppose I unintentionally matched both the Mills, and John Rutledge House. While the humidity made my dress wrinkle and my hair frizz up, this was the perfect look for a dinner date night out in Charleston.
