October Beauty Favourites

October 30, 2018

Each change in season comes with newness. From new recipes to master in the kitchen, to clothing, hairstyles, home decor and of course, beauty products...there’s always something fresh each new season brings. In the case of beauty, the department has been pretty darn good to me this fall. I’ve found a few new launches that I am completely taken with as well as a new-to-me nail polish that feels like the perfect fall shade (honestly, I can’t believe I hadn’t tried it sooner). Without further adieu, here are the beauty products I’ve been loving these last couple of months

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Eyeshadow Palette in Latte: Does anyone else find themselves reaching for eyeshadow more in the fall and winter months? In the summer, I’m all about a little highlighter and mascara, but once fall hits, I love a moodier makeup look and playing around with eyeshadow. I’m obsessed with this matte, metallic and satin Bare Minerals Eyeshadow palette in Latte because the colours are so rich and quintessentially fall. For a daytime look, I typically swipe solely destiny or fringe all over my lid, but for a more dramatic look, I like to create a smoky autumn eye by blending Destiny with Feels and Spirit. Finally, I’ve used Solstice and Firefly as a top and bottom liner and I just love how moody and autumnal it looks. This palette gets a 10 out of 10 in my books.
Summer Friday Jet Lag Mask & Summer Friday Overtime MaskI’d been intrigued by the Summer Friday Jet Leg Mask since its launch this past summer, but it wasn’t until the Overtime Mask came out this fall that I decided to try it. Apparently, I reasoned to myself that I couldn’t have one without the other…however, that’s completely fine because I LOVE both of these masks. The Summer Friday masks are all natural, vegan and cruelty free and truly are a duo I think work best together. The Overtime Mask smells like pumpkin spice which is so lovely during the crisp fall months. I love using this mask 2 or 3 times a week after I cleanse my face to exfoliate and remove any dead skin cells and impurities. This mask has active ingredients like pumpkin and I can really feel like enzymes working on my skin. After I rinse this mask off, I swear my skin feels baby soft! Each time I’ve used the Overtime Mask, I’ve followed up with the Jet Leg Mask as an overnight treatment. I love how smooth this mask goes on and the smell is so fresh and invigorating. The texture and smell remind me of toothpaste but in a good way…if that makes sense? In the morning, I wash my face and my skin feels soft and glowy. I’ve also used the Jet Leg mask like a primer under my makeup which I like, but I definitely prefer it as an overnight mask. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer (my shade is 3 Fair): You know a product is good when it’s sold out online at Sephora (still available at Nordstrom!), haha! But seriously, I’ve been in love with this concealer since trying it near the end of September. This concealer has a soft sponge applicator that feels so smooth on my skin. I gently dab it under my eyes and onto any red spots and blemishes and it instantly reduces the look of my dark circles and spots. I love how natural the magic away concealer looks on my skin and I have yet to see it crease under my eyes which is typical for a lot of concealers.
Essie Nail Polish in Angora Cardi: While this isn’t a new Essie polish colour, it is new to me and honestly, I can’t believe I hadn’t tried it before. Just as I like a moodier eye and lip in the fall and winter months, I love an autumnal nail. I used to be all about REALLY dark colours like OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark, but in the last couple of years, I’ve found those colours to be a little too “goth” for my taste. When I found Angora Cardi I fell in love because it’s a rich deep dusty rose that isn’t too dark or too light…in fact, it’s juuust right for the fall months.
