The ladies at NEAT Method organize everything from pantries to garages—there is no space too large, or too small. However, there are definitely some spaces that are more exciting to organize than others. One of those places is the hidden gem of the kitchen pantry! Most people spend a lot of time in their kitchen, so there’s nothing better than making sure they have a smile on their face each time they open a pantry or cabinet. Here are our five tips for achieving the perfect pantry.
1. It’s wise to categorize.
Every item in your pantry should have a place to call home. By categorizing, you are making sure all baking items are together and that the salty snacks can always be found. It will make locating what you need so much easier—trust us!
2. Label, Label, Label.
Labeling really takes your organization to the next level. It helps make your ‘behind the scenes’ as beautiful as your perfectly styled room, and will ensure all members of the family can find what they need—and maybe even put it back where it belongs! Make sure to write ‘NEATly’ in a color that is legible.
3. Not all storage solutions are created equal.
It is important to think through functionality when selecting the best storage solutions for your pantry. Think: No glass containers for kid’s foods, easy-to-reach-in baskets for grab-and-go items and airtight storage to ensure freshness.
4. What about the instructions?
If you exchange a box for a storage container, make sure you don’t discard the cooking instructions or expiration date. Use a chalk pen and add these items to the back or bottom of the container!
5. Location is key.
Consider what you use most often and make sure that it is at eye level. Store the categories you need least up high and keep the heavy items low (i.e. back up water, soda etc.).
