A Skincare Expert’s 3 Tips for Transitioning Your Skin to Fall
Most of us find that our post-summer skin is not only full of sun damage, but also all the sunscreen that we’ve used has clogged our pores causing dull, dehydrated and congested skin. Fall transition skincare, for me, includes really great exfoliation and lots of TLC.
Here’s what I suggest adding to your regimen as the temps cool down:
The Glow & Go Peel is ideal. It’s essentially a facial in a jar, gently penetrating through that tough summer layer of damaged skin. Grapefruit seed extract helps unclog pores and cinnamon oil increases circulation and blood flow. I recommend using this about three times a week to start.
The change from warm and humid to cold and windy weather can be extremely drying, therefore making your skin more fragile and you have to do more to nourish and hydrate it. It is very important to incorporate an intense moisturizer to your fall routine. It is really beneficial to use a night cream that acts more like a night “treatment,” more of a workhorse while you sleep. A product with a significant exfoliant (like lactic acid), which I use in my night cream, is a great way to re-texturize the skin and lighten any unwanted sunspots. It really does everything!
Lastly, even though summer is sadly over, you still need to protect your skin. (Especially with the added exfoliation!) I love this because it is a full broad spectrum SPF, which is loaded with antioxidants and peptides (which are really the answer to anti-aging). It looks and feels like a tinted moisturizer and makes the skin look flawless.
And, as always, I am huge proponent of a healthy diet and of hydrating the skin from within. I love cucumber and celery juice with a little lemon and ginger. That’s a great way to keep a natural glow and to re-energize dull/dehydrated post-summer skin. I would also recommend upping your water intake. Make it fun with adding lemon, orange and grapefruit to it.
