Earlier this week, we paid a visit to my mother in law, and we never leave with empty hands. This time, she gave us like 20 lemons from her garden. You know, those are the best ones that truly smell amazing. When life give you so many lemons, you have to come up with us to make before they go bad! I started baking lemon tarts, lemon chewy cookies and my favourite scrub that i’ve been using since i was like 14.
The brilliant thing about this scrub is that you need only 4 ingredients to make it, plus it’s everything you already have in your fridge. I use it on my face, body and nails (perfect for cuticles). Only four but powerful ingredients, each super beneficial for your body.

Olive Oil
Suitable for  oily, and dry skin. Olive oil has antioxidants and good fats which help get rid of the free radicals and also heal the skin. For stretch marks, it improves the elasticity of the skin and its regenerative properties will help heal the affected skin.

Honey
Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it’s great for acne treatment and prevention.  Full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down ageing.  It is extremely moisturising and soothing, so it helps create a glow.  Honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.

Sugar
If you use a scrub of brown sugar and olive oil, is it very helpful in keeping the skin soft and supple. Brown sugar removes dirt and unclogs the pores. One of the major benefits of sugar for your skin is that it maintains the oil balance. Sugar scrubs cleanse your skin and do not allow toxins to attack your skin cells.

Lemon
Using lemon juice on blackheads has been shown to reduce the frequency and severity of blackheads. The discoloration caused by scars, certain skin disorders and age spots can be diminished by applying lemon juice to the discoloured area. Lemon juice has natural antibacterial properties that make it a good choice to help cure acne and prevent further breakouts.

That could be probably the longest post i’ve ever written. You know me, i’m usually too short with my posts, but since the new year started, i’ve been very committed been more healthy. Eat better, fruits, vegetables, do my yoga, and take care of my skin and body overall. And it sure feels great.

What you’ll need:
1/2 lemon juice
1/2 cup of sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon honey

Instructions
Whisk together all the liquid ingredients until the mixture has a thick consistency. Add sugar and mix with a spoon. You can add more or less sugar according on how thick you want your scrub to be.

The photography for this post is stunning!

I make my own scrubs too. I'm a big fan of the brown sugar body ones. If you haven't already, you should try out coconut oil in your scrubs. Lots of benefits.

  • I'm going to try this for sure!!! Lovely photos!

I have been using this exact scrub for a while now + absolutely love it! The last time I made it I also added a few drops of lavender oil. Adds a nice, calming scent. Now that I know how good all the ingredients are for skin, I am going to keep on making this! xx

  • definitely going to try this.
Just wondering, do you use up everything you've just mixed? or can you keep half of it for another usage? And if you keep- how long can they last?

  • Danielle

I just whipped up a batch of this and it's excellent! I have what I would call argumentative skin that gets dry very easily. This screw works better than anything I've ever bought from a shop. It's left my skin feeling silky smooth and lovely. I'll definitely be using it again.
