Art of Fashion 2013

September 30, 2013

ARTOFFASHIONThis past friday I attended the 2013 Art of Fashion Show. If you are not sure what Art of Fashion is, it is a competition held in Toronto featuring emerging Canadian designers who are vying for the chance to win Most Promising Designer decided by industry judges. This year 9 of Canada’s most promising fashion designers showcased their work through the theme, “Past behaviour” showing us that; “The best predictor of future behaviour is… past behaviour”. Throughout the evening there were three fashion shows (1 for media) and two performances by the band Bellwoods. We were also treated to a choice of Cointreau Martini or Minskaya Vodka and multiple hors d’oeuvres. The evening was filled with great people and amazing Canadian talent. My favourite designs of the evening came from Katelyn Bowland and Christine Youn who coincidentally both attended Seneca College like myself. As I have mentioned before, I think it is so important to support Canadian fashion and talent, especially if you are fortunate enough to live close to places where opportunities to do so are endless. Thank you to Art of Fashion and 4 1/2 Inch PR for allowing me to take part in this evening supporting Canadian design.
The winner of the 2013 Art of Fashion competition will be announced at the ROM (Royal Ontario museum) on October 18th.
